Certificate IV NTIS 51879 (WA) in University Foundation Studies (Nursing)
This course is designed to prepare students for entry to university level
programs in Nursing. The course consists of 8 units of study, with five
core units and three elective units.
For progression to the ECU Bachelor of Nursing, international students
are required to complete the Certificate IV NTIS 51879 (WA) with a 65% course average
(or more) in not more than three semesters.

Comprehensive registration with the Nurses’ Board of Western Australia
as a registered Nurse. This registration is mutually recognised in all

Unit Descriptions
SCN100 Science for Nursing
This unit provides the background science required for entry to the Nursing course at Edith Cowan University. Students are introduced to the various levels of chemical and biochemical organization in living systems and to physiological processes dependent on them. The unit examines those aspects of physics important in nursing practice: mechanics, fluid behavior and pressures, energy and nuclear radiation. Students will also become familiar with units of measurement and mathematical techniques relevant to the nursing profession.
BUS108 Management
This unit provides an introductory understanding of the principles and practices related to management in the modern world. Students will acquire knowledge and basic skills in relation to these principles and practices, together with an insight into organizational behaviour issues which impact upon management strategies.
BUS 104 Mathematics
The purpose of this unit is to develop skills and concepts in a number of areas of mathematics, apply mathematics to the business environment and develop fundamental skills for further studies in areas such as commerce and information technology.
BUS102 Communication.
This unit develops literacy and communication skills relevant to business, and better equips students with skills required for further study in an academic environment.
BUS107 Introduction to Computing
The purpose of this unit is to provide a broad understanding of computers, and allows students to acquire skills in the main applications of computers, and appreciate the increasing role of information processing in our evolving society.
