University Designed Program AUSI Diplomas are based on the first and second year of the equivalent ECU Bachelor degree programs, and are registered as Higher Education courses, accredited by the Government of Western Australia and the Commission for Higher Education and Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology in Kenya. As the Year 1 and Year 2 programs are fully moderated by ECU, students can be confident that their course is of the highest quality with standards equivalent to that of ECU. The Bachelor of Business and the Bachelor of Information Technology are offered by Edith Cowan University (Australia) and delivered by AUSI. Students are awarded an Edith Cowan University (ECU) Australian Degree, and not an AUSI qualification. Three-Semester-Fast Track AUSI’s innovative Three-Semester System (trimester) allows students to Fast Track their studies and complete one academic year in only 8 months. This allows students to enter the 2nd year of a university degree course earlier than students studying in a conventional two-semester system. With intakes in March, July and October, there is also additional flexibility which allows students to extend their course over 3 full trimesters in order to provide the best opportunity for academic success. Students have the option to complete their Bachelor degree in 2 years through AUSI. Small classes and Individual attention AUSI believes strongly in quality tuition, and ensures quality education through the appointment of all academic teaching staff by ECU. Our classrooms provide a modern learning environment with the average class size being 25 students. We also have lecturers who visit from Australia every trimester giving guest lectures, moderate student work, and assist our lecturers in making sure that the quality of what is delivered here matches the high standards in Australia. Longer teaching sessions In keeping with its supportive approach, AUSI provides more teaching hours per unit than any other university. Instead of the traditional 3 hours of teaching, AUSI conducts its classes in 4 hour sessions, Monday to Friday from 8.30am-12.30pm and 1.00pm-5.00pm. This extra academic contact allows students to fully develop their knowledge and understanding of each unit. Attendance and assessment AUSI requires all students to attend at least 80% of scheduled course contact hours. The methods of assessment may differ depending on the subject and course. Most subjects will be assessed through a combination of written examinations and assignments, essays, presentations and tutorial presentation. Some coursework will include group based projects and practical work. The final examination that students sit for is written and marked in Australia, giving another independent assurance on the quality of the programs being offered. All qualifications that students are awarded are either from PIBT or ECU. Course accreditation In Kenya, the courses have been registered with the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology, while the Commission for Higher Education has Validated the Diploma Programs, and has granted Authority to Collaborate with Edith Cowan University for the Bachelor Degree’s. In Australia, our courses through PIBT and ECU are registered with the West Australian Department of Education Services, Training Accreditation Council, Registration as a Training Organization with the West Australian Government, Australian Quality Training Framework and Edith Cowan University was established under an Act of Parliament in Australia. *Entry into Australia is subject to student visa conditions as set out by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship. All AUSI programs have been registered with the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology in Kenya. Programs have been Validated and Authority to Collaborate with Edith Cowan University (ECU) has been granted by the Commission for Higher Education (CHE). |
